Arkansas Celebrates School Choice Week
The Arkansas Department of Education joined Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in celebrating National School Choice Week, recognizing January 25 through 31 as School Choice Week in Arkansas. Because of the state's strong commitment to education freedom, Arkansas ranked among the top three states in the American Legislative Exchange Council’s 2026 Index of State Education Freedom, earning an A grade in Education Freedom Programs, Virtual Schooling, and Open Enrollment.
Building Collective Efficacy in the New Year
As we step into a new year, APSRC remains deeply committed to supporting Arkansas educators in building strong, thriving school communities. At the heart of this work is collective efficacy, the shared belief among educators that, together, they can positively impact student learning.
Call for Peer Reviewers for CSP Subgrant Competition
APSRC seeks subject matter experts as peer reviewers to objectively evaluate grant applications for the APSRC Charter Schools Program (CSP) subgrant competition. Applications will be reviewed according to the rubric outlined in APSRC Request for Applications guide. The diverse Peer Review panel will possess expertise in charter school operation, governance, authorization, finance, administration, leadership, and/or law.
APSRC Teaching & Learning Team Hits the Road in December
In December, the APSRC Teaching and Learning team traveled across Arkansas, visiting eight schools in the Delta, Central, Northeast, and Southern regions. These visits provided hands-on support for educators, with a focus on data analysis, instructional planning, and coaching to strengthen classroom practices and boost student achievement.
KIPP Delta Schools Earn Statewide Honors for Academic Growth
A major achievement is being celebrated by KIPP Delta Public Schools, as three of its campuses have been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas for “Beating the Odds,” an award honoring schools where students demonstrate exceptional academic growth on the ATLAS assessment.
APSRC Hosts State-Required Training for Charter Board Members
On November 13, the Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC) welcomed school board members and charter leaders for Charter Board Training. The live training event provided three hours of state-required instruction for Arkansas Public School Board Members, helping them meet the annual requirement of six hours by December 31.

Instructional Leaders Embrace Growth at ALA Session Hosted by APSRC
Educators from across Arkansas gathered this week for a two-day professional development session hosted by the Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC) for Arkansas Leadership Academy (ALA), where Jeana Williams, APSRC’s Director of Teaching and Learning, led Cohort B of the Instructional Leadership Empowerment (ILE) program.

Marvell, AR.—In an astounding turnaround, Marvell-Elaine School District has emerged as one of Arkansas’s top-performing districts, earning high praise in the 2025 Outstanding Educational Performance (OEP) Awards. Once on the brink of closure due to poor academic performance, the district is now being celebrated for its exceptional student growth in English Language Arts (ELA).
