Arkansas Celebrates School Choice Week

The Arkansas Department of Education joined Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in celebrating National School Choice Week, recognizing January 25 through 31 as School Choice Week in Arkansas. Because of the state's strong commitment to education freedom, Arkansas ranked among the top three states in the American Legislative Exchange Council’s 2026 Index of State Education Freedom, earning an A grade in Education Freedom Programs, Virtual Schooling, and Open Enrollment.

Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva emphasized that school choice and the Education Freedom Account program allow parents to evaluate their child’s needs and select the path that fits them best. During the 2025 through 2026 pilot year, more than 44,000 families received EFAs, showing strong interest in expanded options.

Enroll Arkansas continues to support families by simplifying the school enrollment process and helping them explore charter and public school opportunities across the state. Its coordinated platform makes it easier for parents to navigate school choice and stay informed about enrollment updates.

Several charter organizations have recently joined Enroll Arkansas, expanding the number of schools participating in the unified OneApp process. These include Arkansas Arts Academy, Freedom Education Services Incorporated, and KIPP Delta Public Schools. Their involvement reflects continued growth in the number of schools using the platform to streamline enrollment and increase access.

Enroll Arkansas also works closely with APSRC by providing updates, sharing enrollment information, and supporting families as they navigate their school options. Through news updates and ongoing communication, Enroll Arkansas helps parents understand open enrollment opportunities, learn about new charter partners, and stay informed about changes that may affect their school selection.
