Sessions Available in Little Rock & Northwest Arkansas
APSRC is excited to announce new dates for our recurring Geometry Academy & Algebra 1 Academy. Sessions will begin in September and run through March 2027. These recurring academies are presented by APSRC Math Specialist Justin Warner. Attendees can register for sessions at our Little Rock Office or Northwest Arkansas Office.
We encourage you to register for each day of the academy you are interested in attending, but it is not required to participate. Please note that if you previously attended one of these academies, you do not need to register again.
From Points to Proof: A Complete Journey in Geometry Instruction
This five-day professional development series is designed to deepen Geometry teachers' content knowledge while strengthening the connection between classroom instruction, the Arkansas Academic Standards, and Achievement-Level Descriptors.
Participants will explore research-aligned strategies for building both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency in students, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing student learning gaps through ATLAS Summative Data.
The series spans five core content areas — Lines and Angles, Right Triangles and Trigonometry, Transformations, Similarity and Dilations, and Surface Area and Volume — with a heavy emphasis on geometric constructions and proof throughout. Teachers will engage with activities designed to develop students' capacity to reason formally, justify their thinking, and build mathematical arguments from geometric foundations.
Collaborative work is woven throughout the series. Teachers will have dedicated time to engage with student-facing activities as learners themselves, work through problem-solving strategies together, and collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine classroom-ready resource materials they can take back and use immediately.

Unlocking Algebra: From Linear Patterns to Functional Thinking
This four-day professional development series is designed to deepen Algebra 1 teachers' content knowledge while strengthening the connection between classroom instruction, the Arkansas Academic Standards, and Achievement-Level Descriptors. Participants will explore research-aligned strategies for building both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency in students, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing student learning gaps through ATLAS Summative Data.
The series centers on three core function families — linear, exponential, and quadratic — with focused attention on graphing, transformations, and domain and range. Throughout each session, teachers will engage with rich, real-world activities that bridge authentic phenomena to multiple representations: tables of values, graphs, and equations. Participants will also learn to leverage TI technology as an instructional tool to support student exploration and sense-making across these concepts.
Collaborative work is woven throughout the series. Teachers will have dedicated time to engage with student-facing activities as learners themselves, analyze their own summative data, and work alongside colleagues to develop and refine classroom-ready resource materials they can take back and use immediately.
