Bringing History and Civics to Life in AR Classrooms
Three years of funded instructional resources, virtual coaching, and professional learning communities for 7th–12th grade social studies educators.
The Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC) has secured a three-year federal grant under the FY 2026 American History and Civics Education – National Activities program to launch Informing Future Citizens (IFC). Running from October 2026 through September 2029, this initiative collaborates with Imagine Learning to enhance 7th–12th grade U.S. history and government instruction across Arkansas, specifically prioritizing rural, Title I, and high-need school districts and open-enrollment charter schools.
By equipping teachers with inquiry-based supplemental materials and robust professional development, the program focuses on helping students analyze primary evidence, understand government functions, and realize their roles in civic life. Over three voluntary cohorts starting in January 2027, the program aims to train 390 educators across 140 sites, ultimately impacting up to 18,200 students.
