Spark 2026: Igniting Ideas, Connections, and Growth Across Arkansas
On May 19, 2026, educators, leaders, and partners from across Arkansas gathered at the North Little Rock Event Center for the second annual Spark Symposium for Charter Schools. This year’s event was one of the most well-attended Spark gatherings in recent APSRC history!
The day began with the presentation of the colors by the Exalt High School Marine Corps JROTC. Attendees were welcomed with a focus on this year’s theme, “Spark Ideas, Connections, and Growth,” which guided the day’s sessions and conversations.
The keynote address from Ian Rowe provided a powerful start to the morning. Rowe challenged attendees to think differently about student success, emphasizing agency, character, responsibility, and resilience. His message encouraged educators and leaders to consider how they can better empower students to take ownership of their learning and future.
Participants engaged in SPARK Zone breakout sessions and roundtable discussions, allowing them to tailor their learning experiences and connect with peers from across the state. Time with sponsors also created opportunities to learn about valuable resources and strengthen partnerships that support Arkansas schools.
During the luncheon, attendees enjoyed a performance by the Institute for Creative Arts Bluebirds Jazz Ensemble, followed by remarks from Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Jacob Oliva, who shared updates and insights on statewide education efforts.
A highlight of the symposium was the recognition of outstanding schools, educators, and leaders across Arkansas. This year’s award winners included:
