For the past five years Teresa has been a teaching and learning specialist at APSRC and Director of the ABC Initiative providing professional development workshops and technical assistance in the areas of K-12 curriculum development, instructional strategies, student assessment, strategic planning and leadership development. Before joining APSRC, Teresa spent 33 years serving schools in Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arkansas.
Teresa taught at every grade level, kindergarten through 8th grade, including gifted education and SPED. She has been a building principal at the elementary and middle school level, district administrator responsible for K-12 curriculum, district professional development director, and Assistant Director of NW Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative. She has also been an adjunct professor at Arkansas Tech and Arkansas State University.
Ms. Chance has led numerous workshops in standards-based curriculum design and assessment, technology integration, and best practices for instruction. Teresa has served on the board of numerous state organizations including, AASCD, AACIA, AAMLE, and AAMLA. She has been a frequent speaker at state conferences such as TICAL, AASCD, and AAEA. Teresa was the 2006 recipient of the AACIA Curriculum Administrator of the Year for Arkansas.
She currently sits on the board of directors for Great Minds, a Washington D.C. based non-profit devoted to the development of quality curriculum for all students.
