Secondary Instructional Strategies

This training is designed as a “train the trainer” model, so participants can teach the strategies to the teachers in their individual buildings. As a participant, you will experience explicit instruction in vocabulary strategies.  The vocabulary strategies can easily be embedded within all content areas.  Close reading opportunities of informational texts will also be provided.  Following each experience, we will share the teacher-side of implementation and how you can apply the strategies and experiences in each and every classroom, no matter the subject.  The vocabulary instruction and close reading strategies will lead to higher student engagement and better comprehension which will then lead to higher reading achievement.

This session will be held at the APSRC Training Center, Suite 375 in the Victory Building, which is located at 1401 W. Capitol Ave., Little Rock, AR 72201. Lunch will be on your own.

Parking is available in a garage located on 6th Street, which runs parallel to Capitol Avenue. The garage is connected to the Victory Building via a second-floor walkway. You will need $5 to cover all-day parking or $1 per hour for hourly parking. Metered parking is also available.
