
Grasping Phenomenal Science (GPS): Exemplar Science Units Supporting 3-5 Literacy

FreeThis live workshop will introduce teachers to an exemplar grade-specific science unit of study grounded in phenomena. The professional learning will focus on the teaching and learning of the Arkansas Academic Standards for science and ELA and how elementary teachers can use the Arkansas K-12 Science Standards to support literacy instruction. Third-5th grade units will include morphology, science informational text and the analysis of student work samples. Teachers will also see examples of: a year’s scope and sequence; bundled performance expectations into units of study; essential learning targets; assessment plans; and will have the opportunity to engage in lessons within the unit. This professional learning supports the PLC process.

For those who have completed the 6+ hours of GPS: Exemplar Science Units Supporting K-2 or 3-5 Literacy, additional hours of professional learning are available for those who demonstrate the use of tools in the exemplar units.
