ADE Science of Reading Assessor Training

This six-hour, face-to-face training is part 1 of 2 that fulfills the training for anyone who will evaluate teachers for the proficiency requirements in Act 1063 (The Right to Read Act). Across the course, participants will work through rubrics, videos, and scenarios to make determinations about how to score and coach teachers as they work toward proficiency in the practices supported by the science of reading.
This training will cover K-2 and 3-6 content areas well as K-12 special education and K-6 ELL. Following the six hours of face-to-face training, there will be six hours of work in an LMS through connect2digital.
Prerequisites for attendance:
- Must be a licensed administrator who, in the normal scope of his or her duties, is tasked with observing teachers and required to conduct evaluations of personnel
- Must have attended every day of phase I of a specific proficiency pathway
- Must have completed this form and sent phase I pathway to Sandy Shepard at sandy.shepard@ade.arkansas.gov.
This session will be held at the APSRC Training Center, Suite 375 in the Victory Building, which is located at 1401 West Capitol Ave., Little Rock, AR 72201. Lunch will be on your own.
Parking is available in a garage located on 6th Street, which runs parallel to Capitol Avenue. The garage is connected to the Victory Building via a second-floor walkway. You will need $5 to cover all-day parking or $1 per hour for hourly parking. Metered parking is also available.
