Above and Beyond the Core: Curriculum-focused PD and Common-Sense Support
Real, sustained progress in education always comes from the hands and hearts of dedicated teachers who are guided and supported by respectful, visionary leaders. Today, more than ever before, there is a need for leaders within our profession (both inside and outside the classroom) with the ability to put all the pieces together by anticipating needs, being knowledgeable about challenges, and finding workable solutions to impossible problems.
Above and Beyond the Core is the result of the Achieving by Changing initiative initiated by the Arkansas Public School Resource Center. As a nonprofit, we are committed to developing and supporting common-sense solutions that are both efficient and effective.
We specialize in providing curriculum-focused professional development. Our aim is to deliver respectful, common-sense support that helps educators provide the richest learning opportunities possible for their students.
Our professional development is organized around seven major categories:
- Leadership
- Technology
- Standards
- Content
- Instruction
- Assessment
- Accountability
We design service delivery to meet the needs of individual schools and school systems. Options include digital content resources, virtual professional development and support, intensive support, and customized professional development packages.
Our delivery system is personalized to the needs and work of a school or district and has built-in flexibility to give schools and school districts the choice of meeting styles:
- Onsite meetings – face-to-face at the LEA site
- Regional HUB meetings – hosted at locations around the state. These meetings will provide updates and new information to identified target audiences such as math, literacy, other subject areas, and leadership.
- Institutes – multi-day, focused training opportunities.
- Mini Huddles – one-day, focused training opportunities
